The debate was on “Do good fences make good neighbors?”, where literal and implicit meanings were brought forward to discuss and reach a valid conclusion. The debate definitely stirred up some arguments which were filled with passion and fire, however, at the end everyone agreed to the idea of having doors in the fences, as suggested by Zara in her arguments.

The debate was thought-provoking and the contribution from each team provided a different perspective to the topic. After the competition, Mr Rohit graced us with an interesting point about the fences in zoo, which also sparked quite an interesting discussion amongst the students. Despite thinking that we were about to be called monkeys at that moment, the point made actually brought a different perspective to the discussion. It contributed to more than just human relations and country borders.

The competition ended with a beautiful story by Ashwinii Ma’am about a farmer, who instead of getting a fence got a bridge and won his friend back. It was a beautiful way to end the day as even though the discussion was on divide caused by fences, it was good to be reminded that bridges can mend those differences.
