The University Placement Office has been introduced as a department in MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul (IB World School) to serve as an eye-opener to the various major career opportunities available to the youth of today at different stages of academic life, a journey that starts as early as Grade 8 and continues through Grade 12. At MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul (IB World School), the members of the University Placement Office advise and assist students and parents through the university application process right from subject selection, exploration of colleges, short listings, admission requirements and submission of applications. To acquaint students and parents with the information about the world-wide options of undergraduate colleges and universities and their admission process, we host University Admissions Representatives from around the world. We prepare students to make informed decisions about their university and scholarship opportunities through exposure to University Fairs, group information sessions, individual meetings and related literature. We offer personalised guidance in identifying the best – fit, post-secondary institutions to help achieve the career goals that students have set for themselves. We prepare and send supporting materials to institutions throughout the final year of high school.
All students undertake the IB Diploma Programme as their terminal degree in preparation for tertiary studies. The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education that prepares students, aged 16 to19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The programme has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.
As the IB grows in India, so too does the recognition of the IBDP as a highly regarded high school programme that prepares students for competitive university entrance in India. It is true that there can sometimes be a conflict of exam dates between the IB Final Exams and the various Indian University Entrance Exams and, should this occur, the IB Coordinator can apply for students to sit any missed IB Final Exam at a later date, as long as certain procedures are followed. It is also true that mostly all Indian universities complete their admissions processes before the IB final results and transcripts are released at the end of the first week in July. For this reason, the IBO works closely with the Association of Indian Universities, to create an early admissions procedure for IBDP students. IBO provides a percentage equivalency document, a transcript of results and a migration certificate for the Indian students.
Students and their parents need to meet with Admissions Directors and Registrars at each of the universities in India for which they are applying, in early April, to secure a Provisional Statement of Eligibility Certificate for each university and, to lodge their early admissions applications in person.
Please check: https://www.ibo.org/programmes/find-an-ib-school/?SearchFields.Country=IN&page=5 for a list of authorized IB schools in India.
Armed with a world-class IB education, a strong sense of self and exposure to college-readiness, Gurukulians are well prepared for post-secondary life.
DP students and their parents are welcome to email us with questions or to set up an appointment for a meeting to discuss individual needs.
