Virtual learning during Pandemic- The new magic for students

2020 has hit the entire world with the outbreak of coronavirus. Since March, our government imposed a strict lockdown in several phases in almost the entire nation. India’s economy hit severely due to lockdown and spike in no. of corona cases. India has reported more than 400,000 cases of this infection since January, and to curb the instances, the whole country closed down for several months. Our economy came to a standstill, and a large no. of people lost their jobs. An indefinite closing of school colleges and educational institutes was imposed in response to the worrying surge of corona cases. Millions of students have been affected as uncertainty still prevails over the reopening of school. Several state governments have put across the plan of reopening schools, but the final decision will be taken after the nod of the central government. So getting back to school is in a dilemma because the health of children cannot be ignored at any cost due to the contagious nature of this disease.

With no choice left, schools have shifted to the online mode of education, which is executed by electronic gadgets like computers, laptops, mobiles, and internet connection. In these tough times, online education has proved a blessing for teachers as well as students and parents, which has made it possible to connect them. Students are following their curriculum in a new and extraordinary way; this has proved the famous quote right that “necessity is the mother of all invention.” There are a number of platforms with impeccable features like video sharing, quiz competition, whiteboard, and other options, which have made learning more exciting and creating keen interest among students. Knowledge is no more confined to school premises, but it can be achieved even sitting in a fire flung area.

MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul, which is among the top IB schools in Pune, has made remarkable efforts to provide online education so that students won't suffer. With the beginning of the new session, they started their online classes. As the closing time of school delayed, so online education made students study at home in this pandemic. Their teachers are burning the midnight oil to incorporate innovative strategies to make online classes more interesting for students. They execute classes by using a number of resources like videos from multiple sources, quizzes, activities, experiments, virtual lab, and tour so that quality education can be inculcated even in this virtual mode. Times to time worksheets are provided, and various activities are assigned to students to do at home to capture it in a video. They also participate in other extra co-curricular activities like music and dance club, painting club, science club, English and Hindi declamation, and other engaging events that eradicates monotony and fills joy in learning.
