How to give your child the confidence to face the outer world?

Confidence is one of the most indispensable qualities that are vital to thrive in every endeavor of life. However, confidence is not attained in a day. It needs to be imbibed gradually in the person right from his/her childhood. It not only affects the thought process but also has a lot to do with the personality. A school is the best place where a child can develop the confidence to face the real world. Here at MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul, we make sure to create an environment for the children where they can grow freely. We are one of the best residential schools in India .bestowed to our value-based education system. We encourage students to exercise their imaginative mindset in order to solve everyday problems. In this way, we support the students to develop self-esteem. Our educators train the students in such a way that they are confident of their skills, knowledge, and talent so that they can face the outer world audaciously. However, along with the school, parents also need to do their best to bestow confidence in their children.

Here are 6 tips that can help you give your child the confidence to face the outer world

1.Never leave their efforts unappreciated

Whenever you ask your kids to help you with some household errands or other stuff, do not forget to appreciate their efforts. This is something you should take care of. Even if they helped you serve the dinner or carry some of your bags while shopping, you should appreciate them. Even the smallest gesture of appreciation can motivate them to perform similar tasks.

2.Don’t make things way too easy for them

Parents don’t want their kids to go through any trouble. Nevertheless, it is imperative for children to be able to solve their own problems. You cannot always spoon-feed your child. So, encourage them to find solutions to their problems. This will not only help them in developing problem-solving abilities but it also aids in gaining confidence.

3.Don’t expect them to be more mature than their age

Seeing the competitive world today, parents feel so worried about their kids that they start expecting them to act maturely even at a young age. However, this is not good for the child. You should not force them to meet your surreal standards. In order to fulfill your expectations, your child will not only lose his confidence but he may also lose his childhood

4.Don’t criticize too much

Though it feels heart-breaking to see your child not being able to achieve his/her goals, that doesn’t justify criticizing them. Criticizing your kids way too much can have a horrifying effect on their mind. It is possible that they start taking your criticism way too deeply and feel unvalued. Instead of criticizing them, you should encourage them to do better.

5. Don’t be overprotective

Certain parents feel like the world’s just too dangerous for their kids to live in. Therefore, they create a lot of boundaries around them. However, this is something that decreases their confidence. The children need exposure so that they can cope up with this competitive world. Hence, you shouldn’t restrict them to their home. Let them go out and acknowledge how things work in the real world.

6. Have a regular discussion with them

The most effective thing that you can do to boost your child's confidence is to talk to them regularly on multi-faceted issues. Children always look out for meaningful discussions with their parents. Thus, you should talk to the children about how it’s going in the school, whether they’re facing any problems, whether they need advice on something etc. A conversation with your children can not only refresh their mood but also make them feel more prepared.

So, these were few tips that facilitate in instilling confidence in the children to face the outer world. We follow all these practices in our school premises and do our best to infuse confidence in your wards. You should also do your best to create an environment conducive to the growth of your child. Together, let’s mould confident and bold citizens of tomorrow!
