Previous Next Meeting Cricket Legend Jonty Rhodes I, Shwetang Chaturvedi of MYP5 Chandra, recently had the privilege of meeting the South African cricket legend, Jonty Rhodes, during a training session at my cricket club. It was an exhilarating experience to meet him, considering he is still regarded as one of the greatest fielders of all time. The encounter took place around 9:00 in the morning when he arrived at my club and was welcomed with a Guard of Honour by the students of the Academy. Following the reception, I seized the opportunity to obtain his autograph on the back of my bat. He displayed great kindness towards us. During the session, Jonty Rhodes conducted a fielding workshop, imparting valuable lessons on developing a powerful throw while fielding and mastering catches within the 30-yard circle. He meticulously explained each step, unveiling numerous insights about the sport that left me astonished. By Shwetang Chaturvedi MYP 5 Navigating Stress and Emotions: Empowering MYP-5 Students In response to the growing need for emotional regulation and stress management skills among students, a specialized session was organized for the MYP-5 students on 12th December 2023. The session aimed to equip students with practical tools to manage stress, understand their emotions, and harness their emotional intelligence. The stress management segment of the session was a collaborative endeavour, combining various techniques such as mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, and time-management strategies. Interactive discussions and group activities allowed students to share their stress triggers and explore effective coping mechanisms. Strategies centered around effective time management, prioritization, and creating personalized stress-relief plans catered to individual needs. The session concluded with a commitment from students to continue nurturing these newfound skills and integrating them into daily routines. Participants left the session equipped with a deeper understanding of their emotions, heightened self-awareness, and a toolkit of stress management strategies to apply both inside and outside the classroom. The session ended with an interactive Emotional Intelligence (EI) questionnaire by N.S Schutte et al designed to gauge students’ awareness of their emotions, empathy, and social skills. Following this introspective exercise, the Five Senses worksheet was administered, prompting students to explore their sensory experiences. This worksheet encouraged them to tune into their senses—sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell—to heighten their awareness of how sensory input influences their emotional responses and stress levels. Previous Next Daily assembly Difference between services and charityHello ladies, gentlemen, and students standing in front of me and today we will be discussing the differences between services and charity. Now what is charity, charity is the process of a community collecting money to help The poor, the sick, etc., or do work that is useful to society now, services is a system or organization that provides the public with what it needs So what’s the difference between the two? Charity is raising money for people who are in poverty in contrast to service, which is usually giving your time. Here’s an example of the two, examples of charity include giving unwanted goods to those less fortunate or visiting relatives at home when they’re sick. Examples of service include people who are waiting tables in restaurants or people who clean hotels are also examples of services Although these two might be different in many ways they are still very important to society, Charity is important because, society and government are not designed for everyone, so that’s where charity comes it’s there to fill in the gaps by helping those that the government can’t do much for like the poverty or the sick Services on the other hand help the economy by allowing employees to work a part-time job until they are ready to start their career and the customers who are buying that service will be paying money to buy that service leading to economic growth. By Jaden Aubrey Fernandes Difference between charity and service The word ‘humane’ shows that we are social animals. Philanthropy means service to mankind. It rests on three T’s, Time, Treasure, and Talent. Charity involves sharing and raising funds to donate books, clothes, toys, woollens to the needy. Donation of blood is a very important aspect that can save lives. If everyone gave away some things which they had excess all would be happy and contented. Being empathetic, kind, and generous are the keys to charity. Service is to volunteer for a kind act by showcasing our talent like singing carols, playing an instrument, reading a book to someone, storytelling, and cleanliness drive. It brings smiles to others and spreads happiness. Our culture involves charity at all festivals and celebrations. Feeding the poor, giving alms, and distributing sweets and gifts are all a part of it. It is rightly said,” The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service of others” By Ms. Alka Chaturve Previous Next Congratulations Teacher! Morning Assembly Positive Thinking In a world often filled with challenges, setbacks, and uncertainties, succumbing to negativity is easy. However, I want to remind you that how we think has a remarkable impact on our actions, relationships, and ultimately, our lives. Positive thinking is not about denying reality or ignoring problems. It’s about approaching life with a constructive mindset, seeking solutions rather than dwelling on difficulties. It’s about finding opportunities in every obstacle and turning setbacks into stepping stones towards success. Studies have shown that individuals with a positive outlook tend to be more resilient in the face of adversity. They bounce back quicker and are more likely to persevere through difficult times. Furthermore, positive thinking isn’t just beneficial for our mental well-being; it also has tangible effects on our physical health. But the power of positive thinking extends far beyond individual well-being. It has the potential to create a ripple effect in our communities, workplaces, and beyond. When we approach challenges with optimism, we inspire others to do the same. We foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and innovation, where people are more willing to take risks and push boundaries. So, let us remember that each day, we have a choice – to view the world through a lens of hope and possibility, or one of doubt and limitation. Let us choose to harness the power of positive thinking, not just for our own benefit, but for the betterment of our communities and the world at large. By Mr. Karan Tamhane Cultivating Inner Peace: A Journey Within In the recent daily assembly, Upasana (an MYP3 student) and I addressed a topic of immense importance — the inner value of peace. In a world often tumultuous and chaotic, I shared a poignant story to illustrate the essence of inner tranquility. The tale of a king seeking a painting to represent peace unfolded, revealing a surprising choice. Instead of selecting a serene landscape, the king chose a painting portraying a tumultuous scene — a barren mountain, stormy skies, and a cascading waterfall. What lay behind the waterfall was a testament to the deeper meaning of peace: a mother bird nurturing its young in the midst of chaos. The king wisely proclaimed that true peace isn’t the absence of challenges but the ability to remain calm amidst the storm. The core message resonated with a timeless truth — the journey towards a peaceful world begins within each individual. The cultivation of inner peace becomes a beacon, radiating tranquility and compassion to those around us. I have emphasized the importance of mindfulness and being present in each moment as the starting point for this journey. Quoting the renowned poet Rumi, he expressed that our struggles are the very places where the light enters us. Challenges, viewed through the lens of growth and resilience, become catalysts for inner illumination. Embracing vulnerabilities and understanding ourselves, our fears, hopes, and dreams, are crucial steps in attaining inner peace. Spirituality was presented as the art of finding inner calm amid life’s difficulties, troubles, and problems. Real peace is not the absence of challenges but the ability to navigate through them with inner calm. Cultivating Inner Peace: A Journey Within In conclusion, the call to action is clear — the journey towards a peaceful world commences within the corridors of our own hearts. As students navigate the challenges of academic and personal life, they are encouraged to take moments to breathe, reflect, and cultivate peace within. The hope is that this journey toward inner peace becomes a guiding light in their lives. May the pursuit of inner peace be an ongoing endeavor, contributing not only to personal well-being but also to the creation of a more peaceful and harmonious world. by Ms. Sadbhavana Singh. Importance of Respecting Mother Nature On 10th October 2023, a highly informative session on ‘The Importance of Respecting Mother Nature’ was conducted in the block assembly of 2/1. This session, spearheaded by Nivaan, a proactive student from MYP 1 Chandra, along with the guidance of Ms. Archna, aimed to educate and engage the school community on the critical topic of environmental conservation. Nivaan, a student of MYP 1 Chandra, delivered a captivating speech emphasizing the intricate relationship between humans and nature. He highlighted the diverse ecosystems, the alarming rate of deforestation, and the impact of pollution on our environment. The speech received a positive response, inspiring students to consider their impact on the environment and take proactive steps for a sustainable future. Ms. Archna, an experienced educator, provided expert insights into the environmental challenges our planet faces today. She emphasized the urgent need for sustainable living and shared practical tips on how individuals can reduce their carbon footprint. Her expertise added depth to the session, providing the audience with a broader understanding of the issues at hand. The session concluded with a powerful call to action, urging everyone present to make conscious efforts in their daily lives to respect and preserve Mother Nature. Students were motivated to initiate eco-friendly projects within the school, such as tree-planting drives and waste-reduction campaigns. Ms.Archna emphasized the importance of collective action and encouraged students to spread awareness in their families and neighborhoods. Respect for language As an Indian, living in a country with over 121 different languages and 270 different native languages, I have come to appreciate the diversity of different languages. It is no wonder that our diversity is a blessing. An author once said, “If you speak to a man in a universal language, you are just talking to him. But if you speak to him in his native language, you speak to his heart.” This saying could not be

It was a wonderful feeling seeing students touching the feet of all the elders around without anyone’s instruction. They participated wholeheartedly in all the rituals right from Ganesh Sthapana, twice a day Arti till the immersion. By Ms. Stuti Vasavada Dhol Tasha Pathak Dhol tasha vadan is an art form deeply-rooted in the Maharashtrian culture. Students played the tunes with energy, enthusiasm, and devotion towards Lord Ganesha. Dhol tasha vadan forms a symphony of dhwaj, tasha, dhol, jhanj, toll. The magic of Dhol-Tasha, one of the most uplifting, enthralling and rhythmic events experienced in our school. The Dhol-Tasha tradition is one of the most beautiful examples of inclusiveness as it allows people of all ages across all the programmes of the school and walks of life to join as participants, creating a rhythm ensemble which showcases the diversity of the tradition wonderfully. These participants also give it their heart and soul. Once students joined the troupe, they began by learning these instruments from the very basics. Much like any drum, students learned the Bass(thoka) and Tone(thapi) and combinations of these low and high pitch sounds to make the final Rhythm(Theka). Students while tying these really heavy dhols around their waist learned to play the Pathak. That’s the magic of music, once the rhythm takes over, the mind, body and soul are all aligned in perfect sync. We have also added some of these rhythms to our repertoire of Drum Circle Rhythms . Even though playing in a Dhol-Tasha pathak requires an immense amount of physical and mental energy, the belief that playing the drums is a spiritual experience making every participant in the pathak endure it with a smile on their faces, and playing it with a group makes it even more powerful, satisfying and sacred much like a Drum Circle or any group drumming activity. By Mr Manish M Manduwar GANAPATI BAPPA MORYA! Ganesh Chaturthi is a significant Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity who is revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom and prosperity. The festival is observed with great enthusiasm and devotion in many parts of India and by Hindu communities worldwide. The significance of Ganesh Chaturthi lies in the various aspects associated with Lord Ganesha. He is believed to be the harbinger of good fortune and the one who grants success in endeavours. People worship Lord Ganesha during this festival to seek his blessings for new beginnings, prosperity, and the removal of obstacles in their lives. Ganesh Chaturthi also holds cultural and social significance. It brings communities together, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. The festival is marked by vibrant processions, music, dance, and cultural performances. It serves as a platform for artistic expression and showcases the rich cultural heritage of India. In our school, we celebrated Ganesh Chaturti with great enthusiasm and faith. The idol of lord Ganesha was brought on 18th September. Each and every day before the Visarjan, we celebrated with aarti in the evening. We followed the traditional rituals of chanting mantras and songs. Towards the end of the festival when the visarjan was about to take place, we carried out a full-fledged procession. On the 23rd we celebrated Ganesh Visarjan starting at 1:45pm with aarti, and then marking the ceremonial immersion of Lord Ganesha’s idol in the waters of Mula-Mutha. Eight members played various instruments on our way to the river, and I played the dhol in this pleasing event. Participating in the Ganesh Visarjan celebration as a dhol player was an exhilarating and memorable experience. As I reflect on my role in this auspicious event, I am filled with a sense of joy, pride, and gratitude. The rhythmic beats of the dhol echoed through the streets, creating an infectious energy that brought people together. The atmosphere was vibrant, with colourful decorations, lively music, and enthusiastic participants. As I played the dhol, I could feel the rhythm pulsating through my body, connecting me to the spirit of the festival. One of the most rewarding aspects of playing the dhol during Ganesh Visarjan was witnessing the joy and excitement on the faces of the devotees. The sound of the dhol seemed to uplift their spirits, encouraging them to dance and celebrate with abandon. It was a powerful reminder of the unifying power of music and the ability to transcend language and cultural barriers. Moreover, being a part of the Ganesh Visarjan celebration allowed me to immerse myself in the rich traditions and customs of my community. I felt a deep sense of belonging and pride as I contributed to the cultural heritage of my people. The experience also provided me with an
