Mufti Day: A Fun-filled CAS Initiative with a Purpose Mufti Day was celebrated at Vishwashanti Gurukul on the 7th of March and was far more than just a day to dress casually; it was a meaningful CAS fundraiser designed to blend fun, service, and gratitude. As senior DP students, we took the lead in organizing this special event to offer our DP2 peers a well-deserved break from their demanding board exam preparations. Our goal was to create an enjoyable and relaxing experience for DP2 students, who have been deeply engrossed in their academic responsibilities. We carefully planned a series of engaging activities and games like, treasure hunt , musical chairs , fun games that would encourage participation, laughter, and bonding. From interactive team challenges to light-hearted group games, the event provided students with a refreshing break from their intense study schedules. The positive energy throughout the day was infectious, as students enthusiastically engaged in activities that promoted teamwork, creativity, and relaxation. However, Mufti Day was not just about entertainment—it carried a deeper purpose. The event served as a fundraiser, with all participating DP students contributing towards future CAS initiatives. The funds raised will be utilized to support meaningful projects that align with the CAS spirit, encouraging creativity, activity, and service. These projects may involve environmental initiatives, community outreach programs, or skill-building workshops that empower students to contribute positively to society. The success of Mufti Day was a testament to the power of teamwork, empathy, and leadership. The entire event was student-led, requiring careful planning, collaboration, and dedication to ensure everything ran smoothly. It was inspiring to witness the initiative and commitment demonstrated by our DP1 students, who took ownership of the event and worked together to create a memorable experience for their seniors. Mufti Day reinforced the values of compassion, collaboration, and community engagement—core elements of the CAS framework. Women’s Day Celebration: A Heartfelt CAS Initiative
Gratitude in Action: DP Students Celebrate Women’s Day On March 7th, Vishwashanti Gurukul witnessed a heartwarming celebration of Women’s Day, thoughtfully organized by our DP students as part of their CAS service. This special initiative was a meaningful tribute to the 105 hardworking women who are an integral part of our school’s support staff. With funds raised through their recent CAS activities, our DP students thoughtfully purchased tiffin boxes as tokens of appreciation for these dedicated women. This gesture extended to the supporting female staff from PIS, gardening and cleaning staff, school attendants, hostel and school security personnel, hostel attendants, and the school medical team. Embracing the ethos of “Matru Devo Bhava,” our DP students wholeheartedly participated in this celebration of womanhood. For our boarding students, who consider Vishwashanti Gurukul their home away from home, this was a heartfelt opportunity to honour the invaluable contributions of these women and express their gratitude. On the occasion of Women’s Day, students presented these thoughtful gifts to acknowledge their dedication and hard work. These women play a vital role in ensuring our school’s safety, comfort, and day-to-day operations, yet their contributions often go unnoticed. By expressing our gratitude through this meaningful gesture, we aimed to make them feel valued and respected. The warm smiles and heartfelt gratitude we received in return made our efforts truly rewarding. The celebration of the day was a powerful reminder of the impact of kindness, compassion, and community spirit—a true reflection of the CAS ethos. Guest Lecture on Sustainability
Learning in Collaboration with Parents and Teachers in PYP As PYP 5 students at Vishwashanti Gurukul World School prepare for their upcoming exhibition, their excitement and dedication to inquiry-based learning continue to grow. Recently, they had the privilege of attending an insightful session on sustainability, led by Sharon Christa Ma’am, a parent of a PYP student. With a graduate degree in computer science and a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence, Sharon Christa Ma’am brings a wealth of knowledge as a professor teaching engineering students. In her session, she introduced key aspects of sustainability, covering sustainable cities, homes, neighborhoods, and healthcare systems. She enriched the discussion with real-life case studies from cities like Abu Dhabi and Copenhagen, illustrating successful models of sustainable urban development. These examples sparked curiosity among the students, leading to an engaging discussion where they eagerly asked questions and explored ways to implement sustainability in their own lives. Inspired by the session, the students brainstormed practical ways to incorporate sustainability into their daily routines. Ideas ranged from using LED lights to conserve energy and reducing plastic consumption to segregating waste for recycling and adopting eco-friendly habits at home and school. The session reinforced the idea that even small, mindful actions can make a significant impact on creating a more sustainable future. This collaborative learning experience, integrating the knowledge and expertise of parents, further enriched the students’ understanding, making their inquiry journey even more meaningful. Apply Now

GURUKULIANS’ JOURNEY FEBRUARY 2025 READ NOW Unit Celebration: “How We Grow” The students enthusiastically shared their learning experiences and the fun knowledge they gained with their parents and other attendees during a beautiful unit celebration. Engaging in interactive activities, they showcased their understanding of the unit “How We Grow,” explaining how babies develop into toddlers, their milestones, and the life cycles of butterflies and plants. Adding to the excitement, some students eagerly participated in a hands-on activity, planting seeds with their parents. This interactive session not only reinforced their learning but also created meaningful memories, highlighting the importance of growth and development in both nature and human life. Exploring the Solar System The EY 2 students recently celebrated their unit on the Solar System with an exciting and interactive learning day. Dressed as different planets, each student confidently shared fascinating facts about their assigned planet, speaking with enthusiasm and showcasing their newfound knowledge. Their presentations reflected their curiosity and engagement with the topic. Adding to the excitement, the students performed “The Planets” song and danced to “The Solar System,” filling the event with joy and energy. Parents and students alike thoroughly enjoyed the celebration, making it a fun and memorable experience for all! EY3 Science Exhibition: Exploring Substances The EY3 unit celebration took the form of an exciting Science Exhibition on Substances, where young learners explored the basic properties of different materials through hands-on experiments. The children demonstrated simple yet fascinating experiments, showcasing how substances change in color, texture, or form. They investigated solids, liquids, and gases, observed how materials like sugar dissolve in water, and even explored the water cycle, making science both fun and interactive. The exhibition fostered curiosity, creativity, and teamwork, allowing students to engage with science in a playful yet educational way. Parents and teachers admired the young scientists as they confidently explained their experiments, reinforcing a love for learning and discovery in an engaging environment. Honoring Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Shiv Jayanti In celebration of Shiv Jayanti, students explored the remarkable life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, learning about his bravery, leadership, and strategic thinking, which played a vital role in shaping history. Through engaging discussions, they reflected on his fearless battles, principled leadership, and innovative warfare strategies. As part of the activity, students drew portraits of Shivaji Maharaj and connected his qualities to the IB Learner Profile, recognizing him as a risk-taker, a principled leader, and a thinker. This session deepened their appreciation for his values and encouraged them to embody these qualities in their own learning journeys. Building Essential Life Skills In February, students engaged in Life Skills sessions focusing on moral values, self-management, social skills, and critical thinking. They explored essential values such as honesty, respect, and gratitude, which shape personality and character. Discussions on gender bias, stereotypes, and discrimination fostered awareness of social issues, highlighting the significance of equality and fairness. A special session on problem-solving encouraged students to think critically, while activities on leadership and teamwork emphasized cooperation, adjustment, and a sense of unity. Additionally, a session on self-control helped students distinguish between reaction and response, equipping them with strategies to handle uncontrollable situations with patience. Through informative videos, interactive activities, and discussions, students developed essential skills such as communication, collaboration, active listening, and analytical thinking. These sessions not only contributed to their personal growth but also nurtured their curiosity and understanding of the world beyond themselves. Celebrating Science Day with Enthusiasm and Inquiry Our young scientists embraced Science Day with curiosity and excitement, embodying the IB Learner Profile attributes of Inquirers, Thinkers, and Risk-Takers. They eagerly explored and selected their experiments, engaging in hands-on learning with enthusiasm. Additionally, they showcased their creativity and teamwork in fancy dress planning, demonstrating their growing self-management skills. While they continue their journey toward full competency, these experiences reinforced the importance of perseverance and learning through practice. Despite occasional setbacks, students displayed remarkable resilience, reflecting on their challenges and seeking solutions for improvement. Their ability to analyze difficulties and apply feedback showcased their commitment to growth. A special appreciation goes to our supportive parents, whose guidance and encouragement played a vital role in boosting the children’s confidence and enthusiasm. Their collaboration made the event even more meaningful, fostering a love for science and discovery among our learners. Creative Expressions and Language Exploration As part of our unit project-based assessment, students put thoughtful consideration into selecting impactful slogans for their banner-making activity. With creativity and enthusiasm, they designed vibrant banners to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a green Earth. This activity allowed them to express their environmental consciousness through art and messaging, reinforcing the significance of sustainability. Additionally, students explored a variety of idioms and their meanings, making language learning an exciting experience. They enthusiastically incorporated these expressions into their daily conversations, further enhancing their vocabulary. To encourage the use of idioms across the PYP block, students selected a few significant ones and displayed them on chart paper. This initiative not only enriched their language skills but also fostered a deeper understanding of expressions in a fun and engaging manner. Unleashing Innovation: A Spectacular Science Exhibition The corridors of our school buzzed with excitement as young scientists showcased their creativity and curiosity at this year’s Science Exhibition. With great enthusiasm, students presented innovative models and experiments, demonstrating their deep understanding of scientific concepts and real-world applications. From Hydraulic Lifts to Rainwater Harvesting Systems, Water Purification Processes, and Power-Saving Windmills, the exhibition highlighted sustainability and technological advancements. Models like the Water Rocket, Dam Working Model, and Geothermal Energy Demonstration amazed visitors, while Advanced Robotics and a Volcanic Eruption Model brought science to life in a dramatic way. Each display reflected the hard work, research, and innovation of our students. They confidently explained their projects to visitors and judges, eagerly answering questions and receiving valuable feedback. The exhibition was a testament to their dedication, encouraging a deeper appreciation for science, technology, and the spirit of inquiry. The World Scholar’s Cup With exams just
