TOK – Is mathematics a language

A TOK class was conducted on the “Unit : Number & Algebra” in which  they will be dealing heavenly with  Symbols and Notations to solve problem sums. This leads to the thought provoking question that whether Mathematics can also be considered as a language? An Interesting conversation started within the students supporting as well as contradicting the Statement. Some of the key highlights of the discussion were that even if mathematics is a language made up of symbol and notation it cannot be consider as universal language. For normal conversation people need lay man words eg: for just finding a way to a restaurant mathematics language is not needed.  Hence forth we need languages like English , French, German, Hindi etc for smooth communication. Therefore, certain symbol used in mathematics is required and used universally by all the people in the World like Pie, e , Phi, equal etc.

To conclude, everything is Multidisciplinary no subject can exist Independently .

Conclusion  : Knowledge is one and all subject are Interlinked
