Our Annual Day was a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, and achievement!

The evening commenced with a serene World Peace Prayer and the Lighting of the Lamp ceremony, setting a tone of harmony and inspiration. Spectacular performances like the Curtain Raiser, Hawaiian and Japanese Dances, and a heartwarming tribute to Raj Kapoor brought the stage to life.

The presence of Dr. Kiran Bedi as the chief guest added a layer of inspiration with her insightful address. The event also honored our academic toppers and sports achievers, recognizing excellence in both intellect and athleticism. From the soulful rendition of Imagine to the commanding Maori Haka Dance and the vibrant Fusion finale, the evening celebrated unity and creativity, leaving us all inspired.

Kudos to our talented students and dedicated team for making this night truly unforgettable!

Academic Pathways and Global Opportunities

The University Placement Office (UPO) at Vishwashanti Gurukul recently hosted a series of impactful initiatives aimed at guiding students toward academic and career success.

Students explored campus life and academic offerings during the Zero Limit Career Trail, visiting esteemed universities in Pune and Mumbai. Additionally, Mr. Nauman Naik from University College London (UCL) led a session on crafting compelling personal statements, sharing invaluable insights about studying at UCL, and inspiring students to aim high in their applications.

In a significant development, the school announced a collaboration with the University of Olivet, Michigan, USA, opening new doors for students to pursue higher education in the United States. These initiatives reflect the school’s commitment to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to excel in their academic and professional journeys.

Exploring Graph Transformations Through Collaboration

The DP1 Mathematics students at Vishwashanti Gurukul engaged in an insightful activity on Transformation of Graph, fostering inquiry and reflection in alignment with the IB Learner Profile.

Leveraging Desmos, students explored vertical and horizontal transformations, including shifts, stretches, compressions, and reflections. They validated their findings through peer discussions and collective problem-solving, critically analyzing how transformations depend on the function. This collaborative approach not only deepened their understanding of algebraic manipulations and graphical behavior but also honed their teamwork and communication skills, creating a dynamic and enriching learning experience.

Designing Creativity & Inspiration

The Annual Day 2024-2025 was an unforgettable experience, as I had the honor of designing the flex and banners to welcome our esteemed chief guest, Dr. Kiran Bedi. Bringing my creative ideas to life while reflecting the event’s spirit was both exciting and challenging. Incorporating feedback to refine the designs further enhanced my creative-thinking abilities.

Researching Dr. Kiran Bedi’s remarkable journey was equally enriching, offering profound insights into her contributions and strengthening my research skills. This experience was a rewarding blend of creativity and learning, making it a truly meaningful and memorable endeavor.

A Journey from Fear to Joy

Participating in the Ganesh Vandana dance for Annual Day 2024-25 was a transformative experience. Initially, I struggled with fear and self-doubt, but determination and support from my seniors and teachers helped me overcome my challenges. Their encouragement turned my tears of frustration into tears of joy when I mastered the steps.

Performing flawlessly on stage, especially in front of Dr. Kiran Bedi, filled me with pride and happiness. This journey strengthened my communication and collaborative skills, taught me resilience, and boosted my confidence. I look forward to performing again next year with renewed enthusiasm and determination.

Fossil Fuels

Ladies and gentlemen, fossil fuels have powered our world for centuries, and for good reason!

Reliability: Our energy systems have evolved alongside fossil fuels, making them highly dependable.

Infrastructure: Global infrastructure supports their use, making an energy shift challenging, especially for low-income countries.

Affordability: Fossil fuels are far cheaper to produce and consume than most alternatives.

High Energy Density: Coal and diesel pack impressive energy levels—24MJ/kg and 46MJ/kg, respectively—with efficient systems to harness nearly all their potential.

Availability: Widely accessible and affordable, fossil fuels ensure energy for everyone without disparity.

But… the downsides:

  • Fossil fuels occasionally cause environmental “oops” moments. Think of an overpopped popcorn lid!
  • They keep Earth’s “cozy blanket” a little too tight, warming things up uncomfortably.
  • Their love for painting our atmosphere and lungs grey isn’t ideal.
  • They’re like a magician’s rabbit—here now, gone soon.
  • And while versatile, their “makeovers” for Mother Earth aren’t always flattering.

3rd Unit Celebration: A Showcase of Culture and Talent

In November 2024, our school successfully organized three Hindi Olympiads, offering students valuable opportunities to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Hindi language. On the 27th, the Utkarsh Hindi Olympiad was held for students from MYP-1 to DP-2, followed by two international Olympiads on the 28th, conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation and Silverzone International for students from PYP-1 to MYP-5.

The Olympiads were executed seamlessly, with students participating eagerly and finding the exams both engaging and insightful. These events allowed students to deepen their knowledge of Hindi, leaving a lasting positive impact on all involved.

Life Skills: Building Independence and Social Awareness

December offered students a chance to reflect, grow, and learn essential life skills. Sessions focused on empathy, kindness, and managing emotions, including understanding triggers and differences between emotions and feelings. Discussions on the pros and cons of machine inventions fostered critical thinking, while perspective-taking emphasized openness and adaptability.

Practical lessons like tying shoelaces, using zippers, and tying a tie enhanced self-presentation and management. Informative videos and active class discussions encouraged reflection, analysis, and active listening. These sessions nurtured independence, social skills, and the application of knowledge to real-world scenarios, equipping students with valuable tools for personal growth.
