Life at Gurukul


Top International Schools-MITGURUKUL One of the objectives of education is to inculcate in children, the appreciation of beauty and to help them develop a sense of aesthetics. A lot of emphasis is placed on the Fine as well as the Performing Arts. In primary school, compulsory exposure is given to art and craft, music, dance, dramatics etc. In Middle school, each student chooses one or two areas to develop expertise in, and skilled guidance is provided on a regular basis.

The Visual Art:

Top International Schools-MITGURUKUL This is a compulsory subject from Nursery to Grade 8. In grade 9 and 10, the students can take up Art and Design as a subject in Group 5 (creative and vocational). In the IBDP level, the students can take up Visual Arts as a subject in Group 6 (Arts). The students are exposed to variety of materials and techniques to create meaningful works of art. Modules are taught using a variety of teaching and learning methods including lectures, workshops, participation in various competitions, exhibitions in the school and in the city, etc. for a holistic growth. The students also appear for the Elementary and Intermediate Drawing grade examinations, conducted by the government of Maharashtra. Also we have recently set up a Paper re-cycling unit to create awareness among the students about re-cycling, which is the need of the hour. This forms a strong basis for the students who want to take up a career option in fields related to Visual Arts, like Fine Art, Architecture and various branches of Design, and also as responsible citizens.

The Performing Arts:

Top International Schools-MITGURUKUL The Performing Arts is offered as a subject up to grade 8, and also as a hobby. The students can opt for any one from the Music and Dance. The Music domain comprises Vocal and Instrumental training. The students can opt for instruments like piano, drums, guitar, violin and Tabla. They can opt for dances like Bharat Natyam, Kathak and Contemporary. They learn singing, playing simple musical instruments and dancing, right from the primary school, helping them to appreciate a mix of Indian and Western music and dance forms. Our final goal is to create well-rounded, thoughtful and independent music makers, dancers, choreographers, etc. The performing arts section is more than experiential, hence we offer opportunities to create, recreate and appreciate satisfying musical and dance expression. The students also appear for examinations in music and dance conducted by Trinity and Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. The students show case their creativity in various in house and city based performances and also in various competitions.
