Looking forward to fresh beginnings in the new academic year, Vishwashanti Gurukul embarked on a new venture of hosting a summer camp for 15 students from South Korea. The summer camp was planned and implemented for a period of 4, 6 and 8 weeks, aiming that the students have a memorable summer holiday in an international environment. By living together in a community based upon the Vishwashanti Gurukul values, students learnt about themselves in a different context and experienced the life of a Gurukulian by attending regular classes, specialized ESL classes, going on various field trips and most importantly, living the life of a true Gurukulian in the Campus Boarding houses. At school they also participated in various activities like art and craft, Tabla, archery and dance. Every weekend was made eventful for them as they explored Pune City as well as other places in Maharashtra including Mahabaleshwar, Mumbai and Aurangabad. They made new friends during the homestay with an Indian peer/classmate where they got to experience the family lifestyles, traditions and routines of their hosts over a weekend. It was also doubly exciting for them as they happened to visit India in the midst of a lot of festivals where they got to witness various facets of typical Indian rituals and celebrations. A talent show was organized toward the end of the camp where each one of them showcased their talents individually as well as in a group by putting up songs, dances and even a violin recital. All in all, they seemed to have milked the entire period of their stay for every bit of an Indian experience that they could have. They were given a certificate of attendance by the Principal of IGCSE and IB, Mr. I. Venugopal. We’re sure however, that the certificate bears little value in comparison to the memories and experiences that these students took back to their home country.
