Chemistry Essay writing competition

Winning isn't everything, but the will to win is everything.

It’s a fabulous beginning of 2012 for “Vishwashanti Gurukul Family”with the Department of Chemistry  having crossed  another milestone to add up to the glory of the school , after having achieved  brilliant results in C.I.E , IGCSE exams with four students achieving 100% in Chemistry.

This time it was to commemorate  the celebration of  the ‘INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF CHEMISTRY,2011’ as declared  by the United Nations (UN) .The year 2011 marked  the 100th anniversary of the founding of the International Association of Chemical Societies, as well as the year Madame Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize , which celebrates the contributions of women to science. Thus all the achievements of chemistry and its contributions to the well-being of  human kind were appreciated worldwide through different activities. The official slogan for this event  was “Chemistry – our life, our future.”

As a part of this event, ‘Muktangan Exploratory Science Centre’, Pune  had conducted  ‘Prof. Pisharoty Essay Competition’ for school students across the state of  Maharashtra. The subject given for essay was ‘Chemistry and Biochemistry in day- to- day life’.

The faculty of Chemistry motivated our budding scientist from grade 7 to 12 and Seventy two students gave their input in this competition . Four of our students made up to the second round of the competition  in the senior category ,where they had  to attend an interview session based on the subject. These students who made us proud are Hemlata Sharma (grade 8), Sujay Ganage(grade 10), Aayushi Kabra (grade11) and Sanjana Rajan( grade 12).

It gives us immense pleasure to congratulate Master Sujay Ganage of Gr-10 ,who attended the interview with full confidence  and made it a point to be one among the first three students by having  bagged 3rd prize at this State Level  competition in which more than 300 students from 80 schools across the state had participated.  He will be awarded with a cash prize with a merit certificate along with the four students who qualified in the second round. Hope that the Gurukulians achieve flying colors under the proper guidance of their Gurus in the years to come.
