It was again the young Gurukulians who proved their metal in the 4th TAISI events at Bangalore. The events took place between Dec.16th to 19th, 2011 at TISB (The International School of Bangalore), a well managed and disciplined institution hosted the event.
On the 17th December at 9.00 a.m all the students, P.E. coaches and the other officials gathered at the TISB sports ground for the inauguration of TAISI events. The chief guest Mr. Mathews the Principal of TISB was amongst the dignitaries who delivered the welcome speech. The show began with the hoisting of TAISI flag, walk past by all the participating schools followed by lighting of Torch, and oath taking by all the participants and sports meet was declared open.
The 3 days bubbled with joy and exhiliration, as students from 17 international schools participated in about 20 events, from track and field, to basketball, swimming and tennis. All the students participated with great enthusiasm and sportsman spirit. 72 students from Vishwashanti Gururkul Pune represented the school by participating in almost all the events and bagged 20 gold, 22 silver and 26 bronze medals. The bagging of rolling trophy by the boys was climax of the event.
Jigme Lama of grade 9 won the Individual Championship Trophy in group D category. Parth Kuntawala of grade 11 won 4 gold medals in swimming in Individual Championship in group B category. Jai Singh Gautam of grade 12 won 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze in Individual Championship, group-A category. Sanjana Rajan from grade 12 won 2 gold medals in Shot Put and Discus Throw events. She also won 2 bronze medals in 100m and 200m Running Race. In the final match of Junior Boys’ Football the Gurukulians, became runners up after a tough fight with the Podar International team of Mumbai. In the finals of Senior Boys’ Football match the Gurukulians, again became runners up after a last minute penalty shut out by Bangalore International School.
The entire team of Gurukulians that include Mr. Jitendra Yadav the Head of Sports Dept., assisted by his entire team and the teachers who accompanied the participants deserve a big applaud for their valuable contribution. The Gurukulians returned home with high Moral and immense self-confidence.
